A unaccustomed Variety report says Paradox Interactive has signed a deal with The Witcher yield company Hivemind to develop new television and movie projects based on the World of Dark RPG place setting.

For those non everyday, World of Darkness is an RPG franchise launched by Canis lupus tundrarum Publication in 1990 about supernatural creatures—vampires, werewolves, wraiths, that sort of thing—who live along the boundaries of our real world. There are besides single videogames settled on the same setting, at to the lowest degree one of which—Vampire: The Mas – Bloodlines—is well-regarded and fondly remembered.

EVE Online studio CCP Games acquired Arctic wolf in 2006 as part of its big plan to make a WoD MMO, which sadly fell through in 2014; a yr afterwards that, Diluted Wolf went to Paradox, which plant hearts aflame by greenlighting Bloodlines 2. Regrettably, that has get along to grief besides, at least temporarily, as developer Hardsuit Labs was shodden from the project and the whole thing was "slow indefinitely" in February.

Christine Boylan, a writer along shows including Rook, Constantine, Cloak and Dagger, and the Punisher, has signed on to the project, as has Shadow and Boney showrunner and executive producer Eric Heisserer.

"Eric and Christine are among the most terrible creators working today," Hivemind president and co-founder Jason Brown said. "They're also gamers who have played in WoD since it began. Information technology's a rare opportunity when the connection between storyteller and story runs this deep, and that is the alchemy which has led to many of our favorite and most culturally rolling franchises."

To embody ingenuous, I feel a certain disinclination almost this complete affair. I love Bloodlines, it's one of the best RPGs I've ever played, but information technology's also an exception to the normal established by all the other entirely unremarkable World of Darkness games vagabond around proscribed there—and don't forget that Bloodlines itself didn't on the dot set the world on fervency when it was new. The past face of that coin is, of course, The Witcher, and if Netflix can spin an mis story just about a Polish goliath hunter into small-screen gold, WHO's to say Paradox and The Witcher's production company ass't do the same with World of Darkness?

Specific titles and release targets oasis't been declared yet, but are expected to be disclosed "in the coming year." Hopefully we'll take up some word on Bloodlines 2 by and so, excessively.
